How to Move On and Progress

Move on from Geocities Free Web hosting
to Geocities Pro Web hosting
to Web hosting Starter package

Beginnings

I got to learn about the Internet in 1999 when I purchased a new desktop
with a good modem. My first exposure to the Internet was in the lists and
the forums. It was in these lists and forums that motivated me to start
a website. At first, I did not have an idea of what a website is and how
to make one. What motivated me to start one was the document of the Catholic
Church which speaks about the Internet. My first website was produced in 2002.
I was on Geocities Free web hosting account. Having no professional background
on website building, I learned hands-on from the lists and forums I joined and
I bought books that taught about HTML, Javascript, and CSS. For quite a long
time, I was on a free web hosting account. However, after I joined a list of
internet business professionals that taught SEO for free, I soon realized why
a paid web hosting account was necessary in order to move on with this venture
into the Internet. Though the Catholic Internet Mission website I started is
basically nonprofit, the SEO list I joined also teaches website owners like me
how to earn income through affiliate programs. Moreover, I also learned how
to place ads on the website to obtain the opportunity to defray or offset the
expenses of a paid web hosting account for an informational website in the
Internet.

Geocities Pro Web Hosting

It was July of 2004 when I purchased my domain and graduated to a Geocities
Pro web hosting account. This account is a simple and modest account for
website owners still learning about the ropes of building a website. What is
good about having this web hosting account is that you have the option to
delete your free domain or not. As for my case, since I still obtain much
traffic from my free domain account, I just kept it and the Geocities Pro
web hosting account automatically redirects all the traffic from the free
domain account to the paid domain account. This move towards a paid web
hosting account was a good and wise move, trusting and knowing I am being
guided by internet business professionals who are practicing ethical website
building methods in the Internet. Through ethical search engine optimization
techniques, I was able to make it to the first page of results in the leading
search engines for my paid domain account and web hosting account. This
eventually motivated me to move on to a better web hosting account.

Web hosting Starter package

Last December of 2004, I made another move to a better web hosting account.
This move was probably the best one I have ever made. My website made it
to the mainstream of the leading search engines. And now I am able to start
to reap the fruits of all my hard work. The Web hosting Starter account of
Yahoo! is the next excellent step after using the Geocities Pro web hosting
account. Although the advantages, features and benefits far outweigh the
Geocities Pro web hosting account, the only difference between the two in
price is US$3.00 . The upgrade is a very good move. There is a valuable
difference of graduating from a simple Geocities Pro web hosting account to
a more professionalized-featured account as the Web hosting Starter.

What I like about this webhosting account is that:

  • it provides a customized 404 error page not found, for links that you
    have moved, removed or are broken;
  • managing your files are easy and the file manager facility is always
    available for your editing needs;
  • there is an access logs feature where you can study the statistics of
    your website - visits, hits, number of unique visitors, page views, and
    more; the web hosting account also refers you to a good web statistics
    analyzer which you can download for free;
  • it gives 2 megabytes of storage; this will really make you plan well
    and wisely how you will use all this storage for the long-term;
  • you can add many email accounts for your business or nonprofit tran-
    sactions; for instance, you can add help@domain, addlink@domain,
    info@domain, admin@domain, or anything that will help organize your
    emailing needs;
  • it has the capacity to help you create 100 subdomains maximum so that
    you can also organize your webpages according to the services and products
    you will provide over the Internet;
  • it is constantly adding new and better features every time to improve
    the webhosting account which you have purchased.

Yahoo! is an excellent company

Yahoo! has recently celebrated 10 years of being an Internet company that
provides excellent services over the world wide web. What is good about
Yahoo! is that it can service people from many countries. Other Internet
companies are able to service only citizens of the USA, Canada and countries
in Europe. However, since Yahoo! has expanded its services to include not
only countries in North America and Europe but also the other continents,
those website owners from countries in the other continents, can easily find
in Yahoo! the web hosting services they need in order to build their website
in the Internet. If you are one of those, who like me, have started with a
free Geocities web hosting account and would wish to move on, so as to progress
your Internet venture on the Web, then why choose another web hosting company?
Just move on first to Geocities Pro web hosting account, and then upgrade
to Web hosting Starter package when you are making gains in your work and
venture. You will know when the time is right when you start getting results
into the ranking of your website in the leading search engines and the traffic
to your website starts to steadily build up. Moreover, if you go into reciprocal
linking, you know that you are really progressing when you get quality link
exchange requests.
